BREAK TIME

“Break time” is a webdocumentaire presenting nine interactive portraits of workers during their break time. There is Catherine, 39, fish-wrapper in Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais) who smokes a cigarette with her friends before returning to wrap fish. There is Khalid, maintenance technician who enjoys the sunlight just below the wind he is in charge of. There is also David, the tattoo artist who says he needs to take regular breaks because he “can afford to make a mistake”.Physical fatigue, mental fatigue, today’s workers say they feel worn. This is why Stéphane Le Gall-Viliker, the director, went to meet the employees on their breaks, to listen about their work in their intimacy, exploring different professional worlds, in the room and during the time of their break, as they experience it. “Break time” is the second partnership between AGAT Films & Cie and Le Monde.fr, after La Zone in 2011, winner of the festival Visa pour l’image. The editorial line of the project is based on the meeting between a documentary maker with an assured and singular writing and development team which have tried to imagine the best way to show, share and examine the relationship to work.The documentary is also associated with an interactive and participatory space where people can tell of what they rest.
