On June 20, 1988, eight of the most representative musicians in French jazz: Marc Ducret (guitar), Daniel Humair (drums), Jean François Jenny-Clark (bass), Joachim Kühn (piano), Hélène Labarrière (bass), Didier
Lockwood (violin), Michel Portal (saxophone) and Martial Solal (piano), were invited to the New York Jazz Festival for a concert at the Town Hall.It was the first time since its creation thirty-years before that the festival had honored French jazz so highly in introducing such a wide range of styles and personalities to an American audience.
