In Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, a working-class suburb of Paris, opposite the RER station, a comfortable house is home to the old law firm run by Maître Lenard, a notary close to retirement. After the departure of his former partners, two young colleagues have joined him. They are determined to modernize practices and increase the number of transactions, called “minutes” in notary jargon, to make the business more profitable.
