To the east of the Arabian desert, there was once an ancient culture about which we know almost nothing. All the same, everything indicates that it reached a level of development comparable to the neighbouring civilizations of Mesopotamia and Iran. The extreme aridity and the burden of religious prohibition in the region have long discouraged archaeologists. However, a team of French scientists is currently conducting large-scale excavations in Oman.
Their goal: to understand how these people managed to prosper in an environment so hostile to life by inventing revolutionary water management techniques. Beyond this major technical aspect, this is a unique opportunity to discover the way of life and beliefs of this pre-Islamic culture. This documentary takes a close look at these young archaeologists for whom the desert has a huge surprise in store…
