What is science today? What is the scientific spirit and approach today? What is scientific research? How does science relate to society? The program Archimedes (45’ Arte version) and PI = 3,14 (26’ La Cinquième version) attempts to answer these questions through several subjects (11 for Archimedes, 8 for PI = 3,14) using the approach of a scientist: looking, asking why, experimenting and explaining the chain of logical deductions that led to his discovery. His stature as a man of science illustrates the dynamism of the investigation. He looks at the potential applications of his work and criticizes errors.
