THE CLIFFS OF ESNANDES

Beyond the jetty is the sea. Beyond the sea is the horizon.Between them and the horizon is mud.They dance, powerless to free the boat from the mud which will take them far, far away, to the other side of the horizon.Five characters are seeking escape. Faced with a hostile environment (pebbles, silt…), they must rise to the challenge in order to keep going. The unchanging landscape stands in contrast to the characters’ anecdotal and nostalgic gestures. The two themes interweave harmoniously to tell a story of freedom and constraint.
